CHIPP Calls for entries

The 5th. CHIPP Contest Calling for Entries

The Organizing Committee of the China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP)is calling for entries from photojournalists from worldwide to participate the coming 5th. CHIPP contest. The judging process will take place in late March of 2009 in Songjiang District of Shanghai.

Since 2005, China Photojournalists Society started a yearly international press photo contest which called CHIPP in China. Having held the contest for 4 years, the CHIPP contest has become a platform for photojournalists form all over the world and attracted thousands of participants. Each year, the entries from worldwide are over 20,000.

The CHIPP Organizing Committee invites 13 prestigious jury members from the photojournalistic circles in different continents to work together and judge the contest. The winning photos they picked up are highly regarded in the photo circle both in China and around the world. Among our Picture of the Year winners, you can find the name like Paula Bronstein, Brent Stirton and Marco DeLauro. Together with John Moore, Christopher Morris, Tod Hessler, Christian Als, Manish Swarup, Saurabh Das, Christian Ziegler and many other gold medalists in the past four years, the CHIPP contest has celebrate the greatness of the high-level in photojournalism and encourage photographers in the world to pave their ways in this profession.

Now, it is the time to show your works taken in 2008, a big year in journalism. We warmly welcome all of you to send your photos to us and take part in the contest. Each of our gold medalists will be awarded a cash prize of about 1500 US dollars (pre-tax) while the Picture of the Year will be awarded 10,000 US dollars. Each of the prize winners will get a certificate as well as a copy of the CHIPP year book. And the Pictures of the Year and Gold,Silver and Bronze medalist will also have a trophy with them.
