SDXC expands SD into Terabyte territory

"The SD Association has announced the new SDXC format offering greater capacities and speeds. The 'Extended Capacity' format increases maximum capacity to 2TB (2000GB), from the current 32GB of SDHC. Speeds will reach 104 MB/s by the end of 2009 with a target of 300 MB/s in the future. Although it is primarily aimed at the camcorder market, we wouldn't be surprised to see it become popular for photography too."
